I followed this video to setup face-tracking for Elite: Dangerous. The video is well done and the instructions work with one addendum*, but the face-tracking wasn’t smooth enough to be useful. Perhaps, it was my cheap webcam, or my calibration of facetracking, or something else, but I couldn’t get it to work reliably. A lot of the forums I’m reading about Elite say that headtracking is great, and it would be cheaper than mulitple monitors or an occulus, but Trackir is over $100. That is a lot to invest in a game. I want to know it’ll work well before I make the plunge. I’m still on the fence.
*The YouTube comments correct the mistake in the video: put the .csv file into the settings folder of FaceTrackNoIR.
